The KVPY (Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojana) is a scholarship/fellowship program for the students of XIth class, XIIth class, and Graduation first-year students. The KVPY is an on-going National Program of fellowship in Basic Science. The “Yojana” is initiated by the Department of Science and Technology, Government of India.

The Objective of the program is to identify the students with talent and aptitude for research, help them realize their academic potential, encourage them to take up a research career in Science, and ensure the growth of the best scientific minds for research and development in the country. The “Yojana’ is to attract exceptionally highly motivated students for pursuing the basic science and research career in Science.

KVPY Aptitude Test Eligibility

The KVPY aptitude test is given to Indian National to study in India Only. The exam can be given by the following students:

  • Students enrolled in XIth standard (Science Subjects) and having secured a minimum of 75% (65% for SC/ST/PWD) marks in aggregate in Mathematics and Science subjects in Xth standard.
  • Students enrolled in XIIth standard (Science Subjects) and have secured a minimum of 75% (65% for SC/ST/PWD) marks in aggregate in Mathematics and Science Subjects in Xth standard.
  • Students enrolled in the first year of undergraduate program in Basic science namely Physics/Chemistry/Mathematics & Biology Leading to B.Sc./ B.S./ B.Stat./ B.Math./ Int. M.Sc./ Int. M.S.
  • Students enrolled in an undergraduate course in Basic Sciences, which is B.Sc./B.S./B.Stat./B.Math./Int. M.Sc./Int. M.S. in Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics, Statistics, Biochemistry, Microbiology, Cell Biology, Ecology, Molecular Biology, Botany, Zoology, Physiology, Biotechnology, Neurosciences, Bioinformatics, Marine Biology, Geology, Human Biology, Genetics, Biomedical Sciences, Applied Physics, Geophysics, Materials Science or Environmental Science are eligible for KVPY fellowship.

The Fellowship/Scholarship of the students will be activated/continued only if they join an undergraduate course in Basic Science (B.Sc./ B.S./ B.Stat./ B.Math./ Int. M.Sc./ Int. M.S.) with at least 60% (50% in case of SC/ST/PWD) marks in class 12th.

KVPY Aptitude Test Syllabus

The Syllabus for KVPY aptitude test is not provided by the officials because the exam can be attempted by Class XIth, Class XIIth and Graduate First Year students. However, it has been notified by the official that the students will b tested for the syllabus up to class X/XII/1st year of B.Sc./ B.S./ B.Stat./ B.Math./ Int. M.Sc./ M.S. as applicable.

The Students of class XIth who are applying for KVPY aptitude test will be asked for the syllabus up to class Xth and the students studying in class 12th will be asked the syllabus up to class 12th. and the graduation 1st year students will be asked the syllabus up to the first year of their respective graduate program.
