Important Notice: Date Extension

In view of the current situation arising from COVID-19 pandemic, The National Testing Agency (NTA) has decided that the Joint Entrance Exam (Mains) April-2020 will now be held during (01-06) September 2020 from 09:00 AM to 12:00 Noon in the first shift and from 03:00 PM to 06:00 PM in the second shift.

The dates of downloading admit card for JEE Advanced can be download from 21.09.2020 To 27.09.2020 from the official website of JEE Advanced.

In a recent notice issued to the candidates on JEE Advanced official website, it is made clear that the JEE (Advanced) 2020 has been rescheduled and will be held on Sunday, September 27, 2020.

  • In some IITs students can choose the option to pursue B.Tech (Hons.) and/or B.tech with Minors.

JEE Advanced Examination Details

Indian National students who wish to appear for JEE Advanced must appear for the JEE Mains exam which held in the month of January and April. Further Information about JEE Main may be obtained from the link JEE Main

  • Joint Entrance Exam (Advanced) 2020 (JEE Advanced)will be conducted by seven Zonal Coordinating IITs under the guidance of Joint Admission Board (JAB). The entrance exam will make the basis for candidate’s admission to the Bachelor’s, Integrated Master’s and Dual Degree Programmes.
  • The decision of JAB 2020 will be final for all matters related to JEE advanced and admission to IITs.
  • The JEE Advanced 2020 examination will be conducted only in the Computer Based Test (CBT) mode.
  • Total duration of each paper (Paper-I, Paper-II) of JEE Advanced 2020 examination is of 3 hours (180 minutes) [4hours (240minutes) for PwD candidates.
  • The JEE Advanced examination consists of two parts (Paper I & Paper II) of three hours duration.
  • Both the papers are compulsory.
  • Negative marks may be awarded for incorrect answers.
  • The schedule of the examination is mentioned below.
  • All Pwd (Person with Disability) candidates will be allotted one-hour compensatory time.
  • The examination end time for PwD candidates will be 13:00 IST for Paper I and 18:30 IST for Paper II

JEE Advanced 2020 Eligibility Criteria

JEE Advanced National and Foreign Nation eligibility

All Candidates must fulfill each and every criteria to appear in JEE advanced.
The candidates who do not fulfill eligibility criteria, there form will be rejected and they will not be allowed to sit in the exam.

For Indian National students

Criterion 1 Performance in JEE Main

  • The Candidate should be among the top 250,000 candidates (Including all Category) in B.E., B.Tech. the paper of JEE Main.
  • The Percentage of various categories of candidates to be shortlisted are 10% for GEN-EWS, 27% for OBC-NCL, 15% for SC 7.5% for ST and the remaining 40.5% is open for all.
  • Within each of these category 5% is reserved for PwD candidates.

Criterion 2 Age Limit

  • Candidate should have been born on after 1 December 1995 (JEE Advanced 2020).
  • Five-year Relaxation is given to SC, ST, and PwD Candidates i.e., the candidates should have been born on or after 1 October 1990.

Criterion 3- Number of Attempts

A candidate can attempt JEE Advanced maximum of two times in two consecutive years.

Criterion-4 Appearance in Class XII or Equivalent Examination

  • A candidate must have appeared for the class XII or equivalent examination for the first time in either 2019 or 2020.
  • The candidate must have studied Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics as compulsory subjects in XII class or equivalent.
  • If the examination board of class XII of the candidate declares result after the month of June 2018, the candidate is also eligible to appear for JEE advanced 2020.
  • In case the examination board of class XII of the candidate declares the result before the month of June 2018 but the result is withheld due to any reason, the candidate is not eligible to appear for JEE Advanced 2020

Criterion- 5 Earlier Admission at IITs

  • A candidate should not have taken admission in an IIT earlier than 2020 irrespective of whether or not he/she continued in the program or accepted an IIT seat by reporting at a reporting centre in the past.
  • The candidate whose admission was cancelled after joining IIT earlier than 2020 are also not eligible to appear in JEE Advanced 2020.
  • The Candidate who paid seat acceptance fee in 2019 but did not report at any reporting centre or withdrew fee before the last round of seat allotment or had their seat cancelled before the last round is eligible to appear in JEE advanced 2020.

For Foreign national Students

Criterion-1 Age Limit

  • Candidates who have bee born on or after October 1 1995 to appear for JEE Advanced 2020.
  •  In countries where a minimum stint in the armed forces (or allied) for a certain period is mandatory before/after Class XII (or equivalent) exam, the candidate will be given a relaxation of required number of years
  •  the candidate is required to upload a certificate/testimonial issued by competent authority to this effect at the time of registration.

Criterion-2 Number of Attempts

A candidate can attempt JEE advanced a maximum of two times in consecutive years.

Criterion-3 Appearance in Class XII or Equivalent Examination

  • A candidate should have appeared for class XII or equivalent examination for the first time in 2019 or 2020.
  • The candidate must have studied Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics as compulsory subjects.
  • If the Examination Board declares the result of XII or equivalent for the academic year 2017-2018 after June 2018, then the candidate is Aldo eligible for to appear for JEE Advanced 2020.
  • If the Examination Board declares the result of class XII or equivalent of the academic year 2017-2018 before June 2018 but the result is withheld, the candidate is not eligible to appear for JEE Advanced 2020.

Criterion-4 Earlier Admission at IITs

  • A candidate should not have taken admission in an IIT earlier than 2020 irrespective of whether or not he/she continued in the program or accepted an IIT seat by reporting at a reporting centre in the past.

  • Step -1: After Login to the online portal the candidate must provide the basic data and the choice of the city for examination. The candidate will require to upload one addition mobile number and email id other than provided at JEE Mains time.

Documents Required for Registration

The candidate must submit scanned copies of the following documents at the time of online registration.

For Indian candidates

  • Class X certificate if the date of birth is mention in it OR birth Certificate
  • Class XII or equivalent examination certificate if the board declares the result.
  • in case of the name is not the same as mentioned in the Class X certificate, a gazette notification showing the change of name.
  • In the case of GEN-EWS category candidate, GEN-EWS certificate issued on or after April 01, 2020 with the latest guidelines from the Government of India.
  • In case of OBC-NCL candidates, OBC-NCL certificate issued on or after April 01, 2020 with the latest guideline of the Government of India.
  • In the case of SC or ST Category Caste (For SC) or Tribe (For ST) certificate as per the latest guidelines issued by the Government of Idia.
  • In case of PwD candidate, Physical Disability Certificate (FORM PwD II/III/IV whichever is applicable) issued by a notified medical authority.
  • In Case of DS category, Certificate (Form-DS) issued by competent authority in the Directorate of Resettlement and Rehabilitation, New Delhi under the Ministry of Defence or the Ministry of Home Affairs, Govt. of India.

Admit Card

  • Only candidates who successfully registered for JEE Advanced can download the admit card.
  • Admit card can be downloaded from the online registration portal jeeadv.ac.in.
  • The candidate is requested to carefully examine all the details given in the admit card. The candidate must carry a printout of the downloaded admit card along with an original and valid photo identity card (Aadhar, School ID, Driving License, Voter ID, Passport, PAN Card)

  • The Syllabus for JEE Advanced 2020 exam is divide into three subjects, Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics.
  • The syllabus of Physics includes concepts of General Physics, Mechanics, Thermal Physics, Electricity and Magnetism, Optics, and Modern Physics.
  • The syllabus of Chemistry includes concepts of General Chemistry, Gaseous and Liquid State, Atomic Structure and Chemical Bonding, Energetics, Chemical Equilibrium, Electrochemistry, Chemical Kinetics, Solid State, Solutions, Surface Chemistry, Nuclear Chemistry, and Inorganic Chemistry.

Is writing Paper 1 and Paper 2 in JEE (Advanced) 2020 compulsory?
Yes, both Paper 1 and Paper 2 are compulsory. If a candidate is absent in any of the papers, then the candidate will be considered as absent in JEE (Advanced) 2020.
If I am absent in one of the papers (Paper 1, Paper 2), will my result be declared?
NO. You will be considered absent in JEE (Advanced) 2020 and the result will not be prepared/declared. It is compulsory to appear in both the papers.

Is JEE Advanced 2020 Postponed?
Yes, the JAA Advanced 2020 has been postponed. In a recent notice issued to the candidates on JEE Advanced official website, it is made clear that the JEE (Advanced) 2020 has been rescheduled and will be held on Sunday, September 27, 2020.
Is JEE Advanced 2020 registration open?
No, the regstration for JEE Advanced 2020 has not been open yet. The registrations for JEE Advanced 2020 are on hold till JEE Main examination April 2020 (Rescheduled to 01-06 September 2020 takes place.
When will the JEE Main (April-2020) admit card be available?
Joint Entrance Exam (Mains) April-2020 will now be held during (01-06) September 2020 from 09:00 AM to 12:00 Noon in the first shift and from 03:00 PM to 06:00 PM in the second shift.
