These are two way to be a PCS officer.

  • The first is to qualify the Annual Competition exam of the UPPSC and join directly as Deputy Collector in the District.
  • The second is to promote as a PCS officer from the Lower Provincial Civil Service (Tehsildar cadre) after completing their training.

PFS (Provincial Forest Services)


Who is PFC Officer:
PFC officer is also the part of State Civil Service. The main objective is to maintain the Natural Resources as per the policy of the Indian Government. A PFS officer generally serves as an Assistant conservator of forests and is posted as a sub-divisional forest officer. It is the Feeder service of the India Forest Services, The Department of Forest and Wildlife of the State Government is the cadre controlling authority of the service.

Requirement Procedure of PPS Officer

If you want to join as a PPS officer, you have to attend the Annual Examination which conducts by the UPPSC for Uttar Pradesh. Selected candidates can appoint as PPS officers Post. a PPS officer, in the rank of Deputy Superintendent of Police (Dy. SP), and after that promoted to Additional Superintendent of Police (SP).

PCS Exam Procedure / Plan

What is the Exam Procedure of PCS Exam:
The Exam is Conducted by UPPSC Uttar Pradesh Civil Services for various posts that are already listed in the upper paragraph. This Exam Consist of Two main stages. The First is the Preliminary Examination and the Second is the Main Examination. After the Main exam, there is Viva-Interview for Selected Candidates. Those Candidates will Qualify the Interview deputed to Medical Test and after this candidate will appoint as Deputy District Collector after the Training.

Examination Fee:

Candidate will have to pay the application fee to appear in the Examination.

  • General and OBC candidate- 100/-
  • SC/St Candidate- 40
  • Handicapped candidate- Nil (00/-)
  • The online processing fee is applicable and same to all- 25/-

Preliminary Examination Plan

How many papers in PCS Pre exam:
The prelims exam consists of two Screening Papers. Both papers belong to General studies. Exam May be Online Multiple choice type. Both the exams are consist of 150 and 100 questions respectively with a Duration of 2 hours for each. As below

How many papers in PCS Main exam:
It is a Conventional Descriptive type exam that has two-phase, the Written Exam, and Viva (Interview). Only those candidates can appear in the Main exam who will qualify the Preliminary exam at least 33% of its Total Marks. Those candidates will qualify the Main exam; will be allowed to appear in Viva and Interview Phase.

Personality Test (Viva- Interview)

After the Main Exam only Selected Candidates will allow attending the Interview. It will be at 100 Marks. The Objective of the Interview is-

  • Some of the qualities to be judged are mental alertness, critical powers of assimilation, clear and logical exposition,

so now Total Number is (Main Written 1100 Marks) + (Personality test 100marks) = 1200 Marks in the Main Exam. Candidates short listed according to these marks and merit list.

Physical Standard:

Relaxation:- Applicable only for candidates belonging to ST and to races such as Gorkhas, Nepalese, Assamese, MeghalayanTribal, Laddakhese, Sikkimese, Bhutanese, Garhwalies, Kumaunies, Nagas and Arunachal Pradesh.

Physical efficiency test:

This test will applicable only for the candidates, who Appling for the post of Assistant conservator and Ranger forest officer as follows.

  • The Male candidates: – A walking test of 25 km / 4 hours
  • The Female candidates:- A walking test 14 km / 4 hours.
  • The arrangement for conducting this test will be made by the Principal Chief Conservator of Forests, Uttar Pradesh so as to synchronize with the sittings of the Medical Board.

Physical Fitness:

  • Male Candidate should be in good mental and bodily health and free from any physical defect likely to interfere with the efficient performance of his/her duties. Before a candidate is finally approved for appointment by direct recruitment he/she shall be required to pass an examination by a Medical Board.
  • A female candidate who as a result of test is found to be pregnant of Twelve weeks duration or more should be declared temporarily unfit. She should be re-examined for fitness after Six weeks from the date of confinement

First Stage: On clicking “Apply”, Candidate Registration will be displayed. The basic Registration form will be displayed on clicking the ‘Candidate Registration’ respective to Examination.

Second Stage: After the completion of the procedure of the first stage, ‘Fee to be deposited by 03 modes of payment viz. (i) NET BANKING (ii) CARD PAYMENTS and (iii) OTHER PAYMENT MODES. You have to select anyone and take your Receipt.
