What is the PSU (Public Sector Unit):

PSUs are the Organizations which controlled and regulated by the Indian Government or you can say, “PSUs are Governmental Organizations”. Nowadays In India, there are more than 350+ Organizations that are listed as PSU. these all organizations have their respective roles and responsibilities like- Crude Oil Purification and Supply, Make Electricity, Make CNG, LPG, and other natural gas, etc. these all play an important role in Indian GDP.

First of all, we have to know about all categories in PSUs. According to their Annual gross profit and production PSUs are Divided into various classes.

Career in PSU: Entry Through GATE Score

If you are a student of Engineering or a science graduate you already aware of GATE Exam. But those students unaware of the GATE Exam, so hear the right place to know.

GATE stands for Graduate aptitude Test in engineering. In this exam, various IIT set a paper to check the Aptitude of the Graduate students. While you passed the exam your GATE score will valid for 3 years only. B.tech, BE, B.Sc pass out can apply for.

So this Score is important to you because Some of PSUs are hired on the basis of the GATE Score. the gate Score may differ for selection in Different PSUs for the different posts but on an average 65% of your score may give you the opportunity to apply in some PSUs. Some PSUs conduct the exam, interview, Group Discussion and PI are as below-

  • There are no restrictions of a number of Chances to crack GATE Exam

Career in PSU: Entry Through NET exam

NET is an Eligibility Test which is conduct to Hiring in PSUs. NET means National Eligibility Test. UGC NET and CSIR NET both are Eligibility test for hiring in PSUs. Both the exam have their own minimum eligibility to attend is a Master’s degree. It conducts two times in a year so you can apply two times in a year. It is a National Level exam so any student of India from any state can apply.

Eligibility for NET Exam:

  • Candidates should secure at least 55% marks in master’s degree exams.
  • Candidates should complete post-graduation from a UGC recognized college/university in relevant streams such as Humanities, Social Science, Electronic Science, Computer Science & Applications, etc
  • Candidates should not be aged more than 30 years

Career in PSU: Campus Interview Selection

Some colleges and institutes are good in the syllabus, Quality of education and full fill the criteria of PSU minimum requirement. So some PSUs hire through these collages, by conducting Interview process, Group discussion, Personal Interview, Your CGPA Play a very important role in the selection. PSU Hire the Candidate on the basis of CGPA, Semester Exam Score, Interview, GD, and some Tasks. The collages, where PSU organize Interviews for selections are- IIT colleges, IIM Colleges, NIIT Collages, Shree Ram Group of Education Collages, etc.

  • For final-year students, the final result of the 8th semester and mark sheets must be presented at the time of the interview.
  • Minimum cut-off % of B.Tech varies for different PSUs Gen. Category:-60%-70%; Reserved Category:-50%-60%.
  • Some PSUs allow only present final year students and last two-year pass-outs. e.g. NTPC

Career in PSU: Direct selection

Some of the students not Eligible to clear the Gate Exam, some of the students not having equivalent eligibility for NET, and last some of the students have not a good college placement facility so hear your last chance to join PSUs.

Some PSUs have their own Hiring or Entrance Exam for Technical or non-tech both. So Students can join PSUs by Clear these exams and make your career bright. These Exams having syllabus the same as GATE. Which covered 75% technical Subjects and 25% GS and Current affairs.

How to Prepare for PSU: All the PSU hires for tech and Non-tech Vacancies. You have to choose one according to your branch. as we discussed the mode of selection in PSUs are for type- GATE Score, NET Exam, Campus interview, and Direct Exam. for can follow these steps

  • If your college have good Campus Placement facility: maintain your Attendance up-to 75%, and make good Relations to your HOD, Deen, Faculty staff, Submit all the Assignments to get all the Possible marks from the Institute. these all help to Achieve CGPA Criteria for the PSUs.
  • If you are a Graduate pass out you can prepare for the GATE Exam, this is the easiest step to join PSU and also gives you more opportunities.
  • If you have a Master degree, you can go through the NET exam to become a Research fellow or scientist in various PSUs
  • etc.
