Service Commissions

What are the Permanent and Short service Commissions in Defense services:

Permanent Commission:

Those candidates, who have the choice to join the Indian Army permanently, can join through this. Permanent Commission held some Entrance exams for Non-Tech, Technical, Engineer, university entry, and 10+2 TES Entry. Permanent commission trains their selected candidates at IMA Dehradun. Training having tough tasks. And after training, you are a part of the Indian Army

SSC-(Short Service commission):

Short Service Commission hires the candidates for short term service that maybe 10 to 14 years depending on the position and class of duty. SSC hires the candidates for Technical, non-technical both, man and woman, If you have completed your tenure of service in SSC so you can move to permanent joining. You can extend your job tenure for 4 years, during this period you can resign at any time. It depends on the skills you able to go for permanent or not.

Entry through UPSC

How to Join Indian Army Through UPSC:

NDA, NA, SSC(Tech), and CDS are some entrance exams which are conducted by Union Public Service Commission for Commissioned Officers. Each exam having different criteria of requirement and having different job profile. Through UPSC Candidates can join Indian Army, Indian Air force and Indian Navy. These exams Conduct twice in a year. For further details we have to discuss each one by one.

NDA- (National Defense Academy) / NA- (Navel Defense academy)

  • NDA Conduct under the UPSC twice in a year in for Defense forces in Army, air force and Navy.
  • Candidate should at least 10+2 or Intermediate passed from any state board having 60% in Physics, Chemistry, and Math each and physically fit in all aspects, Should be Unmarried. And having Age Between 16.5 to 19.5 years according to the first day of the month of registration.

Exam Fee-
Generally, the examination fee is 100 rupee which can be submitted online by net banking, Master card, Debit Card, Credit Card, etc. and Offline in SBI by Cash, fee relaxation can be allowed to SC/ST and OBC Candidate and Sons of JCOs, SCOs and ORs.

Nature of the Examination-

  • The Exams conducted by UPSC Online in two parts, first is MCQ Test consists of Mathematic of 300 marks and General Ability test of 600 marks so the first part is of 900 marks.
  • Selected candidates go for the further process which SSB Test/ Interview of 900 Marks Separately.
  • Duration of Training is 3 year in NDA and 1 Year in IMA

Syllabus:-

Paper 1

Part A. Mathematics-(Algebra, Matrices, Trigonometry, Analytical Geometry of 2D and 3D, Calculus Differential and Integral, Differential Equations, Vector Algebra, Statics and Probability).

Part B. General Ability test- (English, General Knowledge, Physics, Chemistry, General Science, History Modern, Geography, current Event,). Part B covering the subjects having weightage 25%, 15%, 10%, 20%, 20% and 10% Respectively.

Paper 2. SSB test/Interview

SSB is an intelligence test procedure Consist of two Stages. Only those candidates can appear Stage 2 Who clear the Stage 1.

Stage 1- it comprises Officer Intelligence Rating (OIR) test and Picture Perception and Description Test (PP&DT), Officers selected on the basis of these two Tests’ ration or Score.

Stage 2- It comprises Interview, Group Testing, Officer Task, Psychology test, and Conference on the 4th day of SSB. Details of SSB can be read on www.Joinindianarmy.nic.in Website.

CDSE- (Common Defense Service Examination)

  • CDSE conducts twice in a year under UPSC and hires graduates for (IMA and OTA SCC), and Final year Students of Graduate can also apply for CDSE.
  • Selected candidates can join the Indian Army, Air force, Navy. And join permanently under PC (Permanent Commission).
  • After selection candidates will train at IMA Dehradun and OTA Chennai.
  • OTA SCC Hire the candidates or Non-Technical man.
  • CDSE has it’s own Minimum Educational, Physical Requirements, and also having Age limitations.
  • Requirement Process notification can get through Newspaper and Authorize Website.
  • Candidates should have complete the minimum Requirement criteria, which is Age must between in 19 to 24 years for IMA and 19 to 25 Year for OTA SCC, Must be Graduate from any recognized university, must be Unmarried and Citizen of India.

Exam Free-

Nature of Examination-

  • Examination consist of Two Stages First is written test and Second is Interview for intelligence and personality test.
  • Subjects asked in Stage 1 tests are English, General Knowledge, and Elementary mathematics.
  • Each paper carrying 100 marks and 2-hour Duration.
  • And in an interview for intelligence and personality test carrying 300 marks.
  • Stage one exams are Objective type questions.
  • Training duration is 1.5 years in IMA Dehradun and 49 Weeks in OTA Chennai.

Syllabus-

Part-1:

  • Exams Covering English Language, General Knowledge, and elementary mathematics.
  • General Knowledge Covering the Current Events, History, Geography, and General Science.
  • And a wide syllabus are covered by Elementary mathematics are- Algebra, Trigonometry, Geometry, Mensuration, Statics

Part-2

  • SSB Test/Interview- SSB is an intelligence test procedure Consist of two Stages.
  • Only those candidates can appear Stage 2 Who clear Stage 1.

SSCW (Non-Tech) Short service Woman (Non-tech Entry)

  • This entry scheme is in Under Short service commission; hire the Female Graduates, for Non-tech service.
  • Exam conducted under UPSC through CDSE twice in a Year with 12 Vacancy, In July and November of Every Year.
  • Candidate should have complete its minimum Requirement Criteria, which is Must be an Unmarried Female.
  • Must have Graduation from any Recognized University.
  • Age Should be in between 19 to 25 Years.
  • Final year Graduates can also apply.
  • Training Center is OTA Chennai of 49 Weeks and All the instructions, Exam Procedure; the selection process is the same as CDSE.

What is UES Entry Scheme in Army:

University Entry scheme available only for Pre Final year Engineering Graduates Male Candidates who wish to join the Indian Army. Exam Selected Candidates are trained at IMA Dehradun, it organizes once in year and vacancies can vary from time to time. After training Candidates grated to SSC and after the tenure can be Permanent in the army depends on Discipline, Skills, and Experiences. Selected candidates will be appointed as Lieutenant Rank.

Those candidates can join the Indian Army through IMA Dehradun, who is in the final year of the Engineering Graduation (B.tech/BE) and Pass out of Early Year. This exam conducted by Respective Command Headquarters twice in a year. After selection, candidates are appointed as Lieutenant Rank under SSC, and after the tenure-eligible Candidates can be promoted as Permanent. Vacancies are based on the Respective Discipline of Engineering.

What is AEC entry in Army:

The Candidate Completed Masters in Respective Discipline can apply for Army Educational Corps. M.Sc/MA, M.Com,/MCA/MBA in First and Second Division are educational requirements. This exam conducted by Respective Command Headquarters twice in a year. After selection, candidates are appointed as Lieutenant Rank under SSC, and after the tenure-eligible Candidates can be promoted as Permanent. Selected Candidates are reported at IMA.

Service Entry

These are three services are listed under Service entry in military. That are ACC, PC(SL) and SCO,Each have different Eligibility Criteria, but one thing is common that is thee vacancy fill up through TES (10+2). So let’s discuss all.

ACC– ACC is Army Cadet Collage under which Students are studied up to 12th and learn Basics of Defense and Discipline, so the candidates can apply for through it. It conducted Twice in a year .

Eligibility-

  • Candidate must be Indian Citizen
  • Candidate must have 12th pass and ACC written Test pass
  • Candidates must be Unmarried
  • Age should in between 20 to 27 Year

PC(SL)- It is a Permanent Commission special list for joining the Indian army after service tenure and JCOs /NCOs can be Apply these exams, those are under the Eligibility of requirement. It is organized once in a year.

Eligibility- Only Serviceman Can apply.

  • Educational Qualification Is Matric or above.
  • Maximum Age 42 and 45 for Engineer.
  • Unmarried/ Unmarried for JCOs and NCOs

SCO (Secondary Control Officer)– this also for service man and only who can apply , those fit can fit in requirement Criteria, this vacancy organize only once in year.

Eligibility-

  • Candidate must be an Indian citizen or serviceman of the Indian Army.
  • Candidates must have a metric pass with a one-year Diploma.
  • Age should in between 30to 35 years.

  • These are, 2 Gurkha Recruiting depots having independent recruiting offices, 59 Army recruitment offices in addition to 47 regimental centers which hire through open rally systems.
  • Most of joining are done by This process for under officer rank. The main minimum eligibilities are 10th or high school, physical, running, and must be an Indian citizen.

How to Join Indian Air-force:

Some of the Entry process through UPSC and some not. First of all, we have to know about the class of duties in Indian Airforce. IAF hires the candidates for the Flying branch, Tech Branch, and Ground Duty. These each has different eligibility criteria and joining process. First, we discuss Entry through UPSC.

How o join Indian Airforce through UPSC:

  • IAF hires the candidates for the flying branch, Tech branch, and woman special entry scheme through UPSC by Conduct th NDA & CDS exams for entry in IAF.
  • NCC entry scheme for C level certificate gives you the opportunity of direct entry.
  • Students must be a graduate from a authorize university. All the students of Engineering can apply through CDSE and AFCAT.
  • NDA & CDSE having the same requirement as we discussed for Entry in the Indian Army. You have to choose your choice.

NON UPSC Entry

Most of the ground duty, flying branch requirements is filling through NON-UPSC. Indian Airforce has its own hiring platform known as AFCAT, which allows you to apply for the Flying branch, Tech Branch, Ground duty. AFCAT is a common admission test for entry in Indian air force by the IAF twice in a year.  Some common posts for these branches are-

Flying branch – Fighter, transporter, and helicopters.

Technical branch– Mechanical, Electronics, Computer science, Aeronautics etc..

Ground duty- Administrator, Accounts, logistics, education, meteorologist.

  • candidate Must be a graduate of Science from any university, having 60% In PCM.
  • A course of the flying pilot having a good score
  • age must between 18 to 25 and physically fit.

For Technical branch-

  • Candidate must be a Pass out Engineer or Under Engineering in Final Year, having no backlog and minimum 60% in its CGPA,
  • Age must be in between 20 to 26.
  • Basically Vacancies come for Aeronautical Engineering. And Mechanical, Electronics vacancies also come when required.

For Ground Duty-

  • There are some positions are under in Ground duty that help the Flying branch and Technical branches, responsible for different operation and execution.
  • The minimum requirement for Ground duty is must be graduate candidate having 60% and age between 20 to 26.

  • In-ground duty having different job profiles having different education requirements.
  • For Administrator, the position must be graduate, from any university, for Accounts must be B.com student. Etc.

How to Join Indian Navy:

Indian navy covers the Indian ocean, the Arab Ocean, and the Pacific ocean in its large sea boundaries and protects us from Pakistan, China, Arab countries, and another neighboring country like Bangladesh, Myanmar, Indonesia. The Indian navy has a Flying branch that regularly checks the activities through the sky. So here you get all the thrill, adventure, and beyond the boundary environment.

Indian navy hire the candidates for different positions-

  • The executive branch, Engineering Branch, Electrical branch, and Educational Branch.
  • and all the positions having different eligibility.
  • In The Navy some entry through UPSC and Some entry Direct through its own entrance exams.

As we discussed UPSC entry in Army, Airforce, same as you can join the Indian Navy through UPSC. UPSC conducts major 2 exams CDS and NDA and NCC also help to join you. So further we are going to discuss another way of entry in the Navy.

Direct Entry (PC for Undergraduate level entry)

What is Direct Entry (10+2) in Navy:

All the 10+2(B.tech) students can join the Indian navy as permanent under this section candidate should have 12th pass with 70% in PCM and 50% in English in 10th.

These vacancies open twice in a year. Candidates should have a JEE Main exam score that is mandatory. Eligible Candidates will Shortlist for SSB and merit list will be created on the SSB and appointed to their vacancy according to merit.

Direct Entry (PC for Graduate Level Entry Exam)

What is Direct Entry (Graduation) in Navy:

If you are a graduate and want to join the Indian Navy so it can be happened by Direct entry which is controlled by IHQ-MoD (Navy). In this section, candidates can join the Indian navy for Permanent or Short term. Candidates will select for SSB the same as Other Defense exams. SSB Held in Bhopal, Banglore Coimbatore, Vizag, and Kolkata. After SSB Candidates Appointed to their Position according to All India Rank. IHQ-MoD (Navy) Conduct the exam to clarify the eligibility of requirements.

INET-(Indian Navy Entrance Test)

INET Conducts by IMQ- Mod (Navy)-DMPR, it is Entry level exam in the Indian Navy for Permanent and short terms both. These vacancies open twice in a year, having an online exam, eligibility criteria. After this test Selected candidates will have clear SSB the same as other exams. According to SSB Score Ranks are giving you a position in the Indian Navy. AFMS– Armed force medical service

How to be a Doctor in Defense Forces:

Armed force medical service is the part of the Ministry of Defence that helps to Indian Defence forces. Directorate General of Armed forces medical service Advised to Higher Authorities of Medical staff in the armed force. Medical services of the Indian Air Force, Indian Navy, and the Indian Army into the Armed Forces Medical Service and placed the services under the Director General Armed Forces Medical Services with the rank of Lt Gen / Vice Admiral / Air Marshal. These all are postings that are process through AFMC.

AFMC (Armed force Medical Collage):- The candidate who appears and clear the NEET exam also can join AFMC for MBBS, Nursing, Post-graduate, Super specialty, PG diploma, and Para-medical. 1. Applicants must possess a medical qualification of an Indian University or a foreign medical qualification recognized by the Medical Council of India. They must also be registered with any of the state councils or equivalent registering authority.

AFMS Details

Training: Most of the post-graduate courses are conducted at Armed Forces Medical College (AFMC), Pune and various other teaching hospitals of the Armed Forces. The Service also offers opportunities to avail study leave at Government expense for super-specialist courses at reputed civilian institutions in India and abroad.

JAG (Judge Advocate General)

How to Be Judge Advocate in Indian defense Forces:

If you want to be Judge Advocate, this can happen through the Indian Defense force too. JAG has to work with Defense justice and Defense Law, you have already seen in some Movies about Court Martial. Exam conducted twice in a year by Respective Command Headquarters. Candidates have to fulfill the minimum required criteria.

Eligibility

  • Must be an Indian Citizen.
  • Age should in between 21 to 27 years.
  • Eligible to Register in Bar Council, Graduation in law with 55%.
  • Must be Unmarried.

Examination Nature- There are 2 Exams Conducted by Command Head Quarters, Prelims, and SSB. The syllabus is to be asked is Based on respected Discipline. Only those students can attend the SSB Interview who qualifies the Prelims. Selected candidates will be appointed according to their Score Merit. Training Conducted at OTA Chennai After Selection of Duration 49 Weeks.

What is NCC direct Entry in Defense force:

NCC- National Cadet Corps is a Tri-Service Organization that belongs to the Indian Army, Airforce, and Navy. Here the young Students join are learn Discipline of Armed forces, it Having Man and Woman Wing both, so Both can apply In Indian Defence Forces though Special entry. Candidates can apply twice in a year. They reported to OTA Chennai after selection and trained under Defence Forces. Selected candidates are appointed as Permanent at least 10 years of services.

Eligibility-

  • Candidate must be Indian Citizen.

  • Candidates must have completed 3 Year of service in NCC Senior Div.
  • Must have Minimum ‘B’ Grade in NNC ‘C’ Certificate
